As schools in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) prepare to resume academic activities on Monday, January 8, 2025, teachers, parents, and students are gearing up for a new term with a focus on ensuring safety and smooth academic progress.
The FCT Education Secretariat has assured stakeholders that all necessary preparations have been made to ensure a safe learning environment. In addition to regular academic activities, security protocols have been put in place to enhance safety, particularly in light of the festive season’s security concerns.
Security Measures in Place
To ensure the safety of students, the FCT Education Secretariat has partnered with local authorities to increase surveillance and patrols around schools. “We are committed to maintaining a safe environment for our students and staff. Security agencies are working with school administrators to ensure our children can learn without fear,” said a representative from the FCT Education Secretariat.
Health Protocols and Safety Concerns
Health experts have also emphasized the continued need for caution, especially with the spread of seasonal illnesses. Schools in the FCT will maintain health guidelines including temperature checks, hand sanitization stations, and mandatory wearing of face masks in crowded areas.
“The health and safety of our students are our priority,” stated the Director of Health Services in the FCT. “Schools will adhere to all protocols to prevent the spread of any illness and ensure that our children have a safe learning environment.”
Teachers’ Readiness
Teachers across the FCT have expressed readiness to begin the new term with enthusiasm. “We’ve been preparing our lesson plans and ensuring that we are up to date with the latest teaching materials,” said Mrs. Nneka Adamu, a teacher at one of the public secondary schools in Abuja. “We are excited to have the children back in class and are committed to providing them with quality education.”
Parents in the FCT have also shown optimism as schools resume. “We are happy to see our children returning to school after the break. The safety measures in place reassure us that they will be in good hands,” said Mr. Paul Ayodele, a parent of two school-going children in the city.
With these preparations in place, the FCT is set for a smooth and secure school resumption, as students, teachers, and parents look forward to a productive academic term.
