Everton Football Club has confirmed the re-appointment of David Moyes as their new manager on a two-and-a-half-year contract.
The announcement marks the return of Moyes to Goodison Park, where he previously served as manager for over a decade, from 2002 to 2013.
Moyes, 61, is tasked with revitalizing the club following a challenging period both on and off the pitch. Speaking about his return, Moyes expressed gratitude for the opportunity to manage the Toffees once again.
“Everton is a club that holds a special place in my heart. I am honored to be back and eager to get started. This is a team with great potential, and I’m committed to working hard with the players and staff to deliver the results our supporters deserve,” he said.
The Scottish manager built a strong reputation during his first stint at Everton, guiding the club to consistent top-half finishes in the Premier League and earning them European qualifications. His return comes at a critical time, with the club fighting to improve their league position and regain stability.
Everton Chairman, Bill Kenwright, expressed confidence in Moyes’ ability to turn the club’s fortunes around. “David knows this club inside out, and his passion, experience, and leadership are exactly what we need right now. We believe he is the right person to lead us forward.”
Moyes’ immediate focus will be on lifting team morale and delivering strong performances in the Premier League. The Toffees are set to face a tough run of fixtures in the coming weeks, but fans are optimistic that Moyes’ experience and familiarity with the club will prove pivotal.
This appointment sees Moyes return to the Premier League after his tenure at West Ham United, where he achieved notable success, including leading the Hammers to their first-ever European trophy in over 50 years by winning the 2023 UEFA Europa Conference League.
The move signals a fresh chapter for Everton as they aim to rebuild under Moyes’ stewardship, with supporters hopeful for a return to the glory days of his first tenure.
