The President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has accepted an invitation from Nigerian President Bola Tinubu to visit Nigeria in 2025.
The invitation was extended during a bilateral meeting between the two leaders on Wednesday night at the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental in Abu Dhabi. Tinubu, who is currently in the UAE to participate in the Sustainability Week, emphasized the importance of collaboration between the two nations to bolster Nigeria’s economy.
A statement released by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Thursday reveals that the Nigerian president urged his UAE counterpart to work closely with Nigeria to foster economic growth.
During their talks, President Al Nahyan expressed his appreciation for Tinubu’s acceptance of the invitation and reiterated the UAE’s commitment to enhancing economic cooperation with Nigeria.
The leaders discussed strategies to attract investment into Nigeria, with Tinubu highlighting the positive impact of his administration’s economic reforms.
Tinubu noted that these reforms have helped boost foreign investor confidence, as evidenced by recent billion-dollar investments from international oil companies and other sectors.
The meeting was attended by Nigerian officials, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Finance Wale Edun, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.
On the UAE side, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan were also present.
