President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to participate in the Africa Energy Summit, which begins today, Monday.
He landed at Julius Nyerere International Airport on Sunday at 10:20 p.m. (8:20 p.m. Nigerian time) to a warm reception led by Tanzania’s Foreign Minister, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo.
At the airport, the President was greeted by Wale Edun, Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, alongside members of the Nigerian community in Tanzania and local dignitaries.
The two-day summit, organized by the Tanzanian government in collaboration with the African Union, the African Development Bank Group, and the World Bank, aims to address Africa’s energy challenges.
On the first day, ministers from participating countries, including Nigeria, will present national energy strategies—referred to as energy compacts—outlining plans to achieve universal energy access within five years.
The second day will feature Heads of State endorsing the Dar es Salaam Energy Declaration, which sets a unified agenda for advancing Africa’s energy goals, including the Mission 300 objectives.
President Tinubu is scheduled to deliver a national address, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to achieving universal energy access and its leadership role in Africa’s energy sector.
He will also highlight ongoing clean energy initiatives and Nigeria’s integrated approach to energy delivery across the continent.
The President is accompanied by key officials, including the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; Minister of Power, Mr. Adebayo Adelabu; and Special Adviser on Energy, Olu Verheijen, among others.
A statement issued by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed that President Tinubu would return to Abuja after the summit.
This follows the President’s recent return from Abu Dhabi, where he participated in the 2025 edition of Sustainability Week (ADSW 2025), a global event focused on accelerating sustainable development and socioeconomic progress.
