Authorities in Anambra State have launched a full-scale investigation into the tragic deaths of three siblings, whose bodies were discovered inside a deep freezer at their home in Nnewichi, Nnewi North Local Government Area.
The deceased, identified as Chikaima (9), Chimziterem (7), and Chimdilim (5), were allegedly attacked by unidentified assailants while their mother, Mrs. Chikazor Ejezie, a lecturer and nurse, was away for an examination.
Upon her return, Mrs. Ejezie found the front door open, an unusual occurrence as her children always secured it when alone. After an extensive search, their lifeless bodies were discovered in the deep freezer.
Their father, Mr. Udobi Ejezie, who resides in Irrua, Edo State, recounted that traces of food at the scene suggested the attack took place around noon while the children were having a meal. The bungalow, which houses two tenants and the landlord, showed no signs of forced entry.
Confirming the incident, Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that Commissioner of Police Nnaghe Itam had ordered a comprehensive investigation, with the case now transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
The remains of the children have been deposited at a morgue as authorities intensify efforts to uncover the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
