
President Bola Tinubu has requested an increase in Nigeria’s 2025 budget from ₦49.7 trillion to ₦54.2 trillion, citing additional revenue generated by key government agencies.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the president’s request on Wednesday in Abuja, highlighting that the adjustment stems from:₦1.4 trillion from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS)₦1.2 trillion from the Nigeria Customs Service₦1.8 trillion from other government-owned agencies.
Following the announcement, Akpabio referred the request to the Senate Committee on Appropriations for swift review, assuring that the final budget would be approved before the end of February.
