
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has called on Nigerian Army troops to enhance their professionalism and commitment in safeguarding national security and upholding the integrity of the force.
Speaking during an operational tour of the 81 Division’s Area of Responsibility, General Oluyede emphasized the crucial role of peace and security in national development.
He urged soldiers to remain diligent in supporting civil authority and maintaining stability across the country.
On the’ welfare of troops, the Army Chief announced key initiatives, including affordable housing projects in Abuja, Ibadan, Jos, Port Harcourt, Owerri, and Akwa Ibom.
He also revealed plans to manufacture 100,000 uniforms monthly, with distribution already underway, prioritizing smaller divisions before extending to the 82 Division and others.
Additionally, General Oluyede disclosed an increase in daily field allowances to ₦3,000, effective next month, as part of the military’s enhanced welfare package.
During his visit, the Army Chief, accompanied by senior officers, commissioned several projects in the 9 Brigade, including the Brigade Commander’s Residence, Senior Non-Commissioned Officers’ Quarters, Corporal Below Quarters, and the 70 Supply and Transport Command.
