The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has sealed five petrol stations in Katsina for under-dispensing fuel and failing to meet safety standards.
The enforcement operation, led by Katsina State Controller Umar Muhammad, aimed to ensure compliance with industry regulations and protect consumers.
Some of the affected stations had expired operational licenses, while others were caught short-changing customers by delivering less than a standard litre of fuel. Lack of essential safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, was also cited.
The sealed stations include Total Petrol Station, A.A. Rano, Ashafa Petrol, Maje Gas, and Gwagware International Petroleum Ltd.
Muhammad warned against the diversion of petroleum products, emphasizing that defaulters would face strict penalties.
He reaffirmed NMDPRA’s commitment to transparency and safety, stating that similar enforcement exercises would continue across the state.
