The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has officially declared Saturday, March 1, 2025, as the first day of Ramadan 1446AH in Nigeria.
The announcement followed a meeting of the Sultanate Council on Ramadan Moon Sighting, where reports from moon sighting committees across various states and organizations confirmed the sighting of the new crescent.
The Sultan urged Muslims across the country to dedicate themselves to acts of worship, spiritual reflection, and prayers for the nation during the holy month of Ramadan.
“As we begin this sacred period, I call on all Muslims to increase their devotion to Allah and pray for peace, unity, and prosperity in our country,” the Sultan stated.
Ramadan is the holiest month in Islam, marked by fasting from dawn to dusk, prayers, charity, and self-discipline.
