The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has inaugurated the Election Project Plan Committee (EPPC) to develop a strategic framework for the successful conduct of the 2027 elections.
At the committee’s inaugural meeting in Abuja, the chairperson, Professor Rhoda Gumus, urged members to draft a comprehensive roadmap to ensure a seamless electoral process. She emphasized the importance of early planning, commitment, and diligence in upholding electoral integrity and transparency.
The EPPC’s mandate includes reviewing the Terms of Reference, developing a detailed work plan, establishing subcommittees for key election components, designing an Election Project Plan (EPP) template, and setting submission timelines for planning documents.
INEC’s approach aligns with best practices, as similar committees were constituted ahead of past elections. Notably, an EPPC was inaugurated in June 2021 to guide preparations for the 2023 general elections.
This proactive move underscores INEC’s commitment to meticulous planning and continuous improvement in Nigeria’s electoral process.
