Nigerian Air Force (NAF), has carried out a precision airstrike under Operation Fansan Yamma, eliminating over 20 criminals and destroying fortified bandit camps in Unguwar Goga hill forest, Ruwan Godiya ward, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Acting on credible intelligence, the airstrikes—executed in the early hours of March 13—targeted notorious bandit leaders Alhaji Gero and Alhaji Riga, whose camps served as operational bases for ambushes along the Funtua-Gusau road, particularly between Yankara and Sheme.
NAF’s Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, Group Captain Kabiru Ali, confirmed that the strikes had a decisive impact, with additional casualties reported in the surrounding rocky hills. While the full extent of damage is still being assessed, the operation marks a significant breakthrough in the military’s counter-banditry efforts.
Alhaji Gero and Alhaji Riga were identified as key enablers of banditry, providing safe havens for terrorist elements responsible for relentless attacks on civilians and security personnel.
The NAF, in collaboration with ground forces, remains committed to eradicating all threats and dismantling criminal strongholds in the North-West region, reinforcing its dedication to restoring peace and security.
