The Federal Government has announced that funds allocated to Rivers State will be handed over to the state’s Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas (Rtd.), amid the ongoing political crisis.

Addressing journalists at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, dismissed allegations that former Rivers Governor and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, played a role in the crisis.
He explained that funds for Rivers State would be released upon request by the Administrator, stating that the extraordinary situation justified the decision.
On the timing of the emergency declaration, the Minister said the President acted in the best interest of the state, emphasizing that waiting longer could have worsened the crisis.
