Retired Maj.-Gen. Muhammad Idris has stepped down from his role as Kano State’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Special Services, with Governor Abba Yusuf formally accepting his resignation.
A statement issued on Wednesday, by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa, confirms the development but did not provide any reason for Idris’ sudden exit.
Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation for Idris’ contributions, particularly in shaping the ministry’s early operations. Appointed in August 2024, the retired Army General played a key role in the state’s security framework.
Wishing him a peaceful retirement, the governor commended Idris for his dedication to public service and commitment to national duty. His resignation comes shortly after that of Mohammed Diggol, the Commissioner for Project Monitoring and Evaluation, who left his position on January 5.
