Liverpool’s star forward, Mohamed Salah, has signed a new two-year contract with the Premier League leaders, extending his stay at Anfield until 2027.
The Egypt international, who is already Liverpool’s third-highest goalscorer of all time, confirmed the deal on Friday, expressing his excitement about the club’s future.
“Of course, I’m very excited. We have a great team now. Before also, we had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies,” Salah said in a statement released by the club.
Describing Liverpool as close to his heart, the 31-year-old added, “It’s great, I had my best years here. I played eight years, hopefully, it’s going to be 10.”
Salah has played a crucial role in Liverpool’s recent success, including their 2019 UEFA Champions League triumph and the long-awaited Premier League title win in the 2019/2020 season.
Liverpool currently sit 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League table, with just seven games left in the season.
