
The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has flagged off an eight-day nationwide Easter Special Operation aimed at ensuring safer highways and reducing road crashes across the country.
The Corps Marshal, Mallam Shehu Mohammed, who announced the operation in Abuja, directed all Commanding Officers to fully deploy personnel for maximum visibility, during Easter celebrations
According to the FRSC boss, the special operation will focus on minimizing road crashes, while ensuring prompt rescue services, aggressive public education, and speedy clearance of road blockages.
To support this, over 743 patrol vehicles, 184 administrative vehicles, 92 ambulances, 23 tow trucks, and 144 motorbikes have been mobilized nationwide.
Equipment including reflective jackets, traffic cones, tyre pressure gauges, digital breathalyzers, and extricating machines will also be deployed.
Additionally, over 200 mobile courts will sit to prosecute traffic offenders, while 23 Help Areas and 15 dedicated traffic control camps will operate round the clock to tackle congestion and emergencies.

For effective monitoring, the Corps has activated a Situation Room at its national headquarters in Abuja to track nationwide activities, process reports, and liaise with commands and stakeholders.
The operation will also leverage 28 Road Traffic Crash Clinics and 53 Zebra points positioned along major routes, backed by 92 ambulances for emergency response and evacuation of crash victims.
The Corps Marshal urged Commanding Officers to collaborate with other security and emergency stakeholders for logistics and operational support, while wishing Nigerians a safe and peaceful Easter celebration.
