
Nasarawa State has approved the sum of thirteen billion naira for the construction of one-kilometre roads in each of its thirteen local government areas, in a joint venture between the state and local governments.
The decision was reached following key outcomes of the State Economic Council meeting chaired by Deputy Governor Dr. Emmanuel Akabe in Lafia.
Also, the Federal Government has given approval for the construction of seventy housing units in each local government area.
Briefing news men after the meeting, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Alhaji Muazu Maifata, confirmed that the road project will be jointly funded by the state and the local councils, each contributing fifty percent of the total cost.
Also speaking the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism Yusuf Musa, said the Greater Karu Development Authority has been tasked with addressing congestion along the Keffi-Karu road corridor by demolishing illegal shops to improve traffic flow.
The meeting discussed the engagement of three consultants to conduct screenings and verification of workers in the local government areas, with the aim of eliminating ghost workers from the payroll.
