The Senate has confirmed the appointment of five Resident Electoral Commissioners for the Independent National Electoral Commission.
This followed the presentation of a report by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Electoral Matters, Senator Simon Lalong.
Those confirmed are Umar Garba for Kano, Sa’id Idris for Bauchi, Chukwuemeka Ibeziako for Anambra, Umar Mukhtar for Borno, and Dr Johnson Sinikiem for Bayelsa.
Following the confirmation, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, congratulated the new appointees and charged them to uphold democratic principles and serve the nation with integrity.
