Israel shuts all diplomatic missions amid ongoing strikes in Iran and fears of regional escalation.
Israel has temporarily closed all of its embassies and consular offices around the world amid an intensifying military operation against Iran, the country’s Foreign Ministry announced on Friday.
In a statement, the ministry confirms that no consular services would be available to Israeli nationals currently abroad and urged citizens to update their location and status via an online form. Those requiring urgent assistance were advised to contact the ministry’s emergency situation room directly.
The ministry also issued a global security advisory for Israeli citizens, recommending that they avoid displaying national symbols in public, refrain from posting identifiable information or travel details on social media, and steer clear of large gatherings linked to Israel.
The move follows Israel’s large-scale aerial assault on military targets in Iran earlier on Friday. According to Iranian media reports, the strikes targeted nuclear infrastructure and ballistic missile facilities and resulted in the deaths of several senior Iranian commanders.
Among those reportedly killed were Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, and Hossein Salami, Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
In response, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, issued a stern warning of retaliation, declaring that “Israel has prepared a bitter fate for itself.”
The escalation has raised global concerns over a broader regional conflict, with analysts warning that both nations could be edging toward open war.
