
Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to represent President Bola Tinubu at the commissioning and naming of a $315 million oil production and storage facility.
The announcement was made in a statement released on Friday in Abuja by Mr. Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, .
The facility, owned by Oriental Energy Limited, a fully Nigerian oil and gas company, is set to be inaugurated on December 14. The milestone marks a significant achievement for the country’s energy sector, highlighting Nigerian enterprises’ growing impact on the global oil and gas industry.
Visit to Saudi Arabia for Religious Observance
Following the event in Dubai, Vice President Shettima will travel to Saudi Arabia from December 16 to 19 to perform the lesser hajj (Umrah) in the holy cities of Madinah and Makkah.
In addition to the religious observance, the Vice President, is scheduled to hold a high-level bilateral meeting with the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) in Jeddah on December 20.
The discussions will center on co-financing arrangements for the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ Phase II) initiative and improved coordination of IsDB projects in Nigeria. This partnership aims to bolster Nigeria’s agricultural and economic development, a priority for the current administration.
Return to Nigeria
Vice President Shettima is expected to conclude his engagements and return to Nigeria on or before December 21.
