Sunshine Stars and Sunshine Queens Football Clubs of Akure have emerged champions of the 2024/25 Ondo State FA Cup in both the male and female categories.
In the women’s final, Sunshine Queens secured victory over Onimarg FC of Akure with a 4-2 win on penalties after a thrilling 3-3 draw in regulation time.
Meanwhile, the men’s final saw Sunshine Stars defeat their U-19 team 4-3 on penalties after a goalless draw in regular play.
With this victory, all four teams that played in the finals will represent Ondo State at the President Federation Cup.
Chairman of the Ondo State Football Association, Otunba Sunday Dele-Ajayi, congratulated the teams and encouraged them to prepare well for the national competition. He urged them to be good ambassadors of the state and bring home the trophy when the tournament begins.
