President Zelensky arrives in London ahead of meetings with British leaders and defence officials.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in London on Monday for high-level meetings with King Charles III, Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and senior British lawmakers, as Kyiv seeks to bolster international support amid ongoing war with Russia.
The visit, confirmed by a senior Ukrainian official, comes as President Zelensky prepares to attend a NATO summit later this week in The Hague.
Speaking to reporters, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian leader said the visit is aimed at “deepening defence cooperation” between the United Kingdom and Ukraine.
“The president of Ukraine will meet with King Charles III, Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and the speakers of both houses of Parliament, Lindsay Hoyle and Lord John McFall,” the spokesperson said.
“He will also speak with Ukrainian troops undergoing training in the UK and engage with security experts from British think tanks.”
The UK has been among Ukraine’s most committed allies since Russia’s full-scale invasion began in early 2022, providing substantial military aid and imposing sweeping sanctions on Moscow.
President Zelensky’s visit underscores Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to secure continued Western military and political backing, as the war with Russia grinds into its fourth year.
