Nigeria’s Esther Kolawole has struck gold at the Grand Prix of Spain, dominating her final bout with a 10–0 superiority win over the USA’s Haylie Jaffe in the 62kg category.
The confident African champion had earlier secured a 10–0 victory against Spain’s Lydia Perez Tourino in the quarter-finals, before edging out Poland’s Alicja Nowosad 4–1 in the semi-final.

President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Honourable Daniel Igali, praised Kolawole’s outstanding performance, describing the win as a sign of her rising potential on the global stage.
He expressed optimism that her current form could translate into more gold medals for Nigeria in the near future.
Kolawole now shifts focus to the Ranking Series in Budapest, Hungary, scheduled for July 14th to 19th, as part of preparations for the World Wrestling Championship in Croatia later this year.
