The Joint Task Force North West Operation Fansan Yamma has issued a statement urging the public to rely on verified information to prevent misinformation and unnecessary panic, particularly concerning recent reports of a military fighter jet allegedly bombing civilian structures in Silame Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
In a press release, Lieutenant Colonel Abubukar Abdullah, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre for Operation Fansan Yamma, clarified that the reports about the alleged bombing are unfounded and require clarification. The statement emphasized that all military operations are conducted with precision and based on extensive intelligence and reconnaissance missions. This rigorous process ensures that military actions are targeted accurately, with minimal risk to civilian lives.
The statement further highlighted the importance of carefully verified information, especially in operations against terrorist groups such as the Lakurawa organization. Given the ongoing conflict with terrorism and banditry in the region, it is crucial to safeguard against disinformation, which could be used to undermine military successes and public trust.
It was also explained that recent strikes in the vicinity of Gidan Sama and Rumtuwa were conducted against identified targets associated with the Lakurawa terrorist group. The military’s actions in these areas were fully justified based on the intelligence gathered, reaffirming the legitimacy of the operations.
