
Residents of Babawa village in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano were thrown into shock after a 45-year-old man drowned in a well.
The Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, confirmed the incident to reporters. According to him, the agency received an emergency call from ASP Kabiru Lawan of the Gezawa Police Division.
The fire service rescue team successfully retrieved the man’s body from the well, but health officials later confirmed him dead. However, the victim’s identity remains unknown, as neither community leaders nor residents could recognize him or determine where he came from.
In a related incident, three individuals were trapped while excavating a well in Gargajiga village, Minjibir Local Government Area. The fire service managed to rescue two alive, while the third, a 50-year-old man identified as Yusuf Nadabo, was retrieved unconscious and later pronounced dead. The victims were handed over to the ward head of Gargajiga.
In another tragedy, a fire outbreak razed several shops on Ibrahim Taiwo Road, leaving one person unconscious and causing the loss of properties worth millions of naira.
